Canyons Century – Saturday, September 8th, 2012

The 2012 Canyons Century will be held on Saturday, September 8th, 2012. This ride features the same course as 2010, but we will be starting at Covers Apple Ranch just east of Sonora and about 1 mile from Black Oak Casino where the 2010 event was held.

This is a Challenging century with over 12,000 feet of climbing held on United States Forest Service Roads (Roads are paved). There is very little to no traffic on the route with views to Yosemite from locations along the route. How many opportunities do you have to spend all day on your bike not getting buzzed by traffic?

For those that sign up by Sunday, August 28th you will receive a free t-shirt. For day of registration, there will be a $5.00 late fee and no t-shirt, though there may be a few extra available for purchase.

Century – $55
Metric Century – $40
25 miles – $20

Food and Drinks will be supplied at each rest stop. If you have something you would like to have at rest stops let us know by emailing info@topsportcycling.com and we may be able to include your items for everyone. Rest stops will be roughly 15 miles apart. There will be 1 stop for the 25 mile ride, 3 stops for the metric century, and 7 stops for the full century.

SAG will be available. This is a fairly remote area with little to no cell coverage so plan accordingly. Course will be swept at the end of the day, you will not be left in the woods!

Covers Apple Ranch will be offering discounts on fresh made to order food following the ride. I would recommend taking home some pastries and pies as well!

As in 2010, we will be holding a competition for the best overall time ($50.00) and best Hill climb time ($50.00). Starting location for the timed Century will be in same location as last yeat, at the top of the first decent, so the additional 1 mile to start/finish will not affect times compared to 2010. You will need a GPS device capable of uploading your time to www.strava.com. Winner will then be sent prize money. Data must be uploaded by Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Please do not contact Strava regarding the competition, all questions about results and prize money must be sent to info@topsportcycling.com.

Registration will be open at 6:30. If you are attempting the full route you will need to start early. There will be a cutoff at rest stop #3, If you do not reach RS #3 by Noon you will be asked to turn around and head back. All routes are out and back. No refunds.
